Motor Sports enthusiasts have events galore. Regular venues include Speedway at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde with Wightlink Islanders Speedway Team. Enjoy the atmosphere and the thrill of racing.
Special annual events include the World Motorcross Championships British leg staged at Arreton and attracts the best in the sport as well as thousands of spectators.
Banger racing is popular at several meets throughout the year. You can even learn to fly at one of two aerodromes here, or treat someone to a pleasure flight in a light aircraft or helicopter.
The spectacle of the World Powerboat championships off Cowes and Gurnard in early September is something to see. Boats race at unbelievable speeds around a set course. The main events attract large crowds with the round the island race finale averaging speeds well in excess of 100mph. The island seems to attract many annual car, motorcycle and scooter rallies where hundreds of enthusiasts stage their annual meets. These include club meets of specialist cars, vintage events, steam rallies and bikes.
